The Milky Way from North Pole cabin in Gothic, Colorado

Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory (RMBL) in Gothic, Colorado is one of the most beautiful locales I’ve visited. Surrounded by tall mountains, there’s no shortage of breathtaking views. The animals are cute too. Deer, marmots, foxes, even bears and elk (the last two I’ve yet to see with my own eyes). Lots of interesting insects too!

Dragonfly dries off after molting.

North Pole cabin is my familiar home. A little small and a little rustic, the best thing about it is its proximity to the large, concrete outhouses. They’re preferable to the small wooden outhouses scattered around RMBL.

And from that deck there on the left, on a moonless night, you get to see this…

I could sit under the stars for hours. There’s no part of me that can ever get tired of them.

We’ll get out there one day. I won’t see it, but maybe someone will. Until then, I can observe and dream. We’re made of star stuff after all.

Before you go, here’s a couple of more photos from the RMBL area.
