Closely Bound

We are two suns,
Two gravity wells,
Two indentations
On the fabric of
Space and time.

My mass rolls around you,
An orbit made constant
By the size of your being,
An immensity beyond description.

You are joy
And thought
And pensiveness
And music.

You are the roil
That disturbs a constant day,
Injecting the possibility of new life,
Imagined worlds seized by the gravity
Of our two suns and held in
A common orbit.

If a Big Bang created our universe,
It’s you who formed first,
A wisdom based on instinct.
A passion for existence
So innate it inspires me,
Inspires us all.

Shine brightly into the dark,
Fill the void with your light,
And when the time comes
That your reactions fade
And your glow dims,
Be the darkness
That swallows me.

Together, let us become the night.
